My name’s Douglas Herring. I’m a Criminal Defense Attorney here in New Jersey. If you have a criminal record, it’s been holding you back. You have to check “yes” on boxes on applications for jobs, on applications for housing, on applications for school. Expungement means to remove it from the record. You may be eligible, and what that would do is actually take it completely out of the records.

What we do is file an application to the Superior Court. We’ll then serve it on all the agencies that are possible to look at it. After that, we file that information to the judge and convince the judge to grant your order for expungement. If your case is expunged, we then send it to all of the agencies and they’ll take it out of the records. They’ll actually physically take the files and hide them away and lock them away. They’ll take it out of the computer system.

We even go one step further. Our firm contacts the FBI to challenge any federal record you have, in order to make sure that they go back to the state police, and find that there’s no record there. Because in the end, if you’re eligible for expungement, then your entire record is wiped out and you never had any conviction. If you want to find out if you’re eligible and when we can apply, give us a call.
